AIHM’s Inaugural Seminar for School Counsellors a Great Success
On 25 September 2020, the Asian Institute of Hospitality Management (AIHM) in academic association with Les Roches hosted 53 principals and academic counsellors from 30 top schools across Thailand. Themed “The Future of Education, the Economy and Successful Careers”, the seminar introduced the institute’s world-class Bachelor of Business in Global Hospitality Management with guest VIP speakers.
The AIHM seminar began with a welcome by Mr. Tim Bulow, Chief Operating Officer of Minor Education. Mr. Bulow who comes from a family of educators highlighted the lifelong value of a good education. He highlighted how AIHM opens a terrific journey of learning and career paths for students.
The next two guest speakers were Dr. Supachai Panitchpakdi, Chairman of the Board of AIHM and his son Mr. Prinn Panitchpakdi, Head of the Economic Team at the Office of the Deputy PM. Dr. Supachai emphasised the need for a global mindset for success, something he learned through his experience as Director-General of the World Trade Organization and then as Secretary-General of the UN Conference on Trade and Development. Mr. Prinn highlighted the importance of technology and financial literacy for entrepreneurship, as offered at AIHM.
The final speaker was Mr. William E. Heinecke, Chairman of Minor International. Mr. Heinecke spoke of his passion for hospitality and entrepreneurship and his vision for Minor Hotels over the last 50 years. The keys to the success of Minor Hotels have been team members and ongoing development. He also illustrated the history of partnership between Minor Hotels and Les Roches for the past 20 years with Les Roches students interning at Minor properties.
The seminar was followed by a tour of the Bangkok Campus with brand-new facilities including amphitheatre, classrooms, and a library. Students at AIHM benefit from a daily immersion in hotel management at the Anantara and Avani+ complexes. Dinner was hosted at Skyline to showcase the hotel’s F&B capabilities, while AIHM’s academic team mingled with guests and outlined their vision for hospitality education.
AIHM is founded by Minor Hotels, in academic association with Les Roches, combining the excellence of Swiss education with a uniquely Asian outlook. The Swiss hospitality education model is recognized globally for its dynamism and experiential approach. We believe that the combination of classroom and simulated learning coupled with real-world learning experiences are key differentiators. Set to launch in April 2021, AIHM will have campuses in Bangkok and Pattaya.
